We will try survival skills like making friction fire, building shelters, finding edible plants and aidless navigation, as well as touching upon how can we not just survive modern life, but thrive happily. Some keys to that include mindfulness of the senses and state of flow, having a sense of meaning and purpose, and being part of a group, a community. So surviving is definitely not an individual affair, but a community endeavour with skills we can practice. Some of those skills are giving thanks, storytelling, communicating with the more-than-human-world, nature wandering and grief work.
This program is based on the 8 shields model for deep nature connection, as well as Joanna Macy’s the work that reconnects and Bill Plotkin’s soulcraft.
